Phono Stages

Why upgrade to a stand alone phono stage?

Many new amplifiers of today neglect the phono stage:
With a focus on CD replay, many companies produce amplifiers with no phono input at all. The solution is to add a phono stage and then use interconnects to plug it into a spare input socket on your amplifier.
If an amplifier does have a moving magnet or moving coil input, it is often assumed that all is well. The problem is that many phono inputs often use budget integrated circuits . For this reason a well researched and properly designed phono stage is a huge upgrade.
There are theoretical advantages for a separate phono stage
The power supply can be separate
If the supply is seperate then the sensitive circuitry is not susceptible to stray fields from the large transformer inside most amplifiers.

We have a great range of stages on offer, from the budget end to the more serious phono stages, come and have a listen and hear which one suits your cart and turntable the best.

Sonneteer- sedly & Sedly USB new!!!!!!

The Sedly from Sonneteer was the first product we heard from the Sonneteer stable, upon first hearing we knew that there was something special to the Sonneteer sound, indeed it posed that magical dust Sonneteer sprinkle on all thier products to leave you totally captived in the way it present music to you.

We found the Sedly to be a very open and rythmical sounding,a clear top open, with a sparking midband, and a tight foot tapping bass.

Other reviewers have noted these charms also.

"The Sedley combines transparency and fine dynamics with excellent rhythmic ability.
The one to beat."

"Loading flexibility is one of the aces up the Sedley's sleeve." - What Hi-Fi June 99

"On Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes, for instance, her vocals were hauntingly pure; I just stopped taking notes and listened to the album all the way through" - Hi-Fi World May 98

"Most liked: Outstanding phono performance,
good digital circuitry"

Edwards Audio

Born from the many years experience of development done by the founder and managing director of Talk Electronics, Kevin Edwards. The aim has been to develop and manufacture a range of products to the same exacting standards that exist for the award winning Talk brand but at very affordable prices without resorting to Chinese based design or manufacturing and the usual loss of control that that entails. These are truly British designed and manufactured products.

The MM1 is an entry level moving magnet or high output moving coil RIAA phono stage. It is unique at the price, with its’ fully RoHs compliant gold plated custom made double sided PCB’s ,natural anodised extruded aluminium case and high quality internal parts, as used by Talk Electronics. It also benefits form Talk Electronics’ buying power with it’s use of 1% metal film resistors plus Wima and Vishay polypropylene film capacitors throughout. The RIAA. Equilisation accuracy is within 0.5dB across the audio band and signal to noise is very low at -76dB un-weighted -85dB A-weighted. The circuit topology has a totally buffered output section with a very low output impedance to reduce cable effects and improve output drive.

Attention to detail also extends to the custom made plug top power supply, the PSU1 which is unique in its use of a split rail design using + and - DC power outputs for maximum rejection of RF noise, maximum dynamic range and overload margin. It also uses a gold plated custom made PCB with high quality diodes and snubber caps. This is no normal ‘off the shelf’ PSU as used by the competition.

Traditional Talk styling and performance requirements have not been overlooked either with illuminated metal etched badges and opal white front and rear panels as standard. This is the best built and most aesthetic phono stage in it’s class but it dosn’t stop there it also delivers in the sound department as well, with expansive and detailed sound staging, normally associated with more expensive phono stages. It is also upgradable through the use of a dedicated PSU2 Power supply soon to be released.
